In commemorating the 2560th Buddha Jayanti (Buddha's birthday, enlightenment and the day he entered into para-nirvana), the government of Nepal, along with several Buddhist organizations, including Bhrikuti Himalayan Foundation, organized a three-day peace program which took place in Kathmandu and Lumbini, Nepal.
On May 19 and 20, a peace discussion forum was held in downtown, Kathmandu. Buddhist leaders and scholars took the floor to share their thoughts, findings, experiences, realisation on the topic of Buddha and world peace.
H.E. Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche also shared the stage and presented his realisations on how the Buddha was the embodiment of peace. H.E. Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche discussed at length how Buddha’s teachings were solutions to inner peace, intercommunity harmony, cross-cultural understanding, inter-religion tolerance, and ultimately world peace.
Over 3,000 government officials, monks, nuns, international delegations attended the two-day conference. The President of Nepal also graced the event.
